Hope you guys don't mind- sketchbook entry
Sometime done real quick- I am working on quick face stuff and costume design. Didn't plan on anything too finished (hence the terrible hands). Was flipping through my Dressing a Galaxy book and was inspired- love the costumes in Star Wars and the work of Ian McCaig. Also attached a little practice head study- once again quick speed paint, nothing serious but would love crits on both.
Oh and one more thing- I started a blog of my own- even though I love this one, something to show friends and family- and others. I have a lot of illustrator files, what format do you guys use to upload work done on AI to get them in here with out distorting color (which happened in an ad campaign of mine) Should I export or simply save as a format....Kinda noob question but it has me stuck- Thanks guys

My Dominance War Failure, lol

So yeah, pretty much ditto everything Tyler said. I completely redid my final illustration 6 hours before it was due, so the final piece is really crappy and very unfinished. I mainly did it just so I had something to submit, so that all the work I put into the character's design and the model sheet wasn't completely wasted. I'm going to have to start earlier next year so that I don't get bombed by finals.
And people need to get in on the weeklies!! They're gonna be hot!

It begins
THE WEEKLY!
NEW FINAL DEADLINE:
JUNE 7
(SUN, MIDNIGHT)
Summer's here and that means we need focus! So me, Tyler and that Raz decided to have a weekly assignment. Anyone can jump in!NEW FINAL DEADLINE:
JUNE 7
(SUN, MIDNIGHT)
The first week will be based on Machine 56
http://machine56.deviantart.com/gallery/
Create an image inspired by his work.
The subject matter can be whatever. Make sure to include text and all that good stuff. Copying someone else's style isn't cheap -- it's a good way to learn.
One person picks a theme for each week. I chose this one. Next week's theme will be chosen by Tyler
Post in the comments section if you want in on this craziness!
- peace!

Dominance War character
My submission to DW and final project for Mahan's. This was crazy trying to get this to look presentable in time for the contest, thank god they had so many extensions to the deadline.
My character's name is Selena and she's a norm stalker. So she's suppose to be stealthy and fast, so I designed her armor to be minimal for her to be flexible and fast in battle. And in DW we are required to give our characters magical weapons. My characters weapons are two sabers that are powered from a magical gem attached to her back. Also for her to attack varying foes she can change blade types by insirting a different rune into the handeles of her sabers. The spare runes are kept on to her hips for quick access.

(don't dock me too bad on the back pose in the modeling sheet, I know the anatomy is off. and that i changed the color scheme of the armor a little from the this sheet to the final illustration.)

Oil Painting Series

erhmm...I haven't posted anything on here so I figured this summer would be a good time to start. I'm working on skin tones and trying to get better @ painting/drawing so I decided to do a series of 3 paintings exploring different skin tones lighting and poses. They are as follows: Bruce Wills portrait, Fashion Girl Posing, & a self-portrait. I forgot to take a picture of the Bruce Willis one after the first sesssion (basically consisting of the drawing and a quickly placed values), but here's where I'm @ after session 2 -total of about 3 hours so far. I plan on spending around another 9-12 hours on it. C&C welcome.

This is why I've been missing basketball...

Countless hours slaving away in that dark cave called the media studies labs and I finally have something to show for it. This is the first time I've ever modeled a character, or a whole environment, so this has been a big learning experience. There are some anatomy issues with the girl, mostly due to trying to pose her without rigging her, but I'm still really happy with how this all turned out. I completely modeled the girl and all the houses/structures. I painted in and photo collaged all the stuff in the really far bg. I also overpainted a bit on the models here and there, pushed the lighting, etc in Photoshop. But yeah, its finally done. Once Dominance War is over, then I can finally have a life again, lol.

Concept art
Joseph Albrechts Zbrush Speed Sculpts
I have been meaning to post for a while now but I never got a chance. This is the last batch of work I did using zbrush. Each on of these speed sculpts took me anywhere from 6 to 9 hours including finding all the reference. I am planning on making close ups soon to show off all my details that you cant see in my turntables. All comments and critiques are welcome.
The vampire bat took me about 8 hours to complete
The Great White Shark took me about 6 hours to complete
The Timber Rattlesnake took me about 9 hours to complete
The Stag Beetle took me about 9 hours to complete and I actually did it all in one sitting which i have never done before.
If anyone is willing to give me concept work so I can sculpt it I am always looking for fresh Ideas. I will post more work soon.

Crits crits crits

This is sort of my first foray into concept art. It's a quicky so I probably won't be going back and changing anything, but I would really like some crits for future reference.
The Mite bot derives solar energy from "fins" on its back. It's about cat sized and is used for long term reconnaissance in environments too toxic, rugged, or generally unfit for human life.

Dominance War Stuff

So here is the work I've done for my Dominance War character so far. I chose from the top silhouettes and even though its not in the last image, shes going to have that huge bow that is horizontally placed on the char in the middle of the top set of silhouettes.
I'm actually posting a bigger image of the last layout, but frikkin blogger keeps sizing it down automatically. Anyone ever had this happen and have any idea how to fix it??
And there are a lot of needed tweaks to the character painting and stance that I'm aware of. I kind of just rushed through these to keep moving along. I'll adjust for the next set. Currently fixing the facial feature alignments, making a more interesting hairstyle, and playing around with some ideas of possibly covering up her exposed and vulnerable belly.
Tell me what you like, what you don't like, or any random crits you'd care to share.

Arabs
Uhhh...I'm taking 18 credits and 12 of 'em are Liberal Arts classes so that's why I haven't been posting much.
Anyways, here's something decisively different. It's my final screenplay for class -- just the first part. The second part involves the government. A big twist!
Would love crits! :D
