In the Middle of the Fight

So I've been sitting on this piece since July. I feel like it needs more, but I'm not satisfied with anything I've tried to do to it. This is pretty much what I originally had in mind for this, so maybe thats why I'm having such a hard time adding to it. I figured it was time to post it anyways. Let me know what you think about it and any ideas you might have for improving it.

Zarathustra + The Joker!

Well, it was only a matter of time before some fan art came out. Started painting this from a screenshot, but wanted him to have that sort of sarcastic, pissed off look he gets whenever a mobster calls him crazy, so the facial expression is from memory. I sort of feel like I'm blaspheming here, but I'm starting to like Painter more than Photoshop I think.

EDIT! - tweaked his expression a little. I don't know if anyone's been out here to even notice the change, but anyway there you have it.



My most recent endeavor. Wanted to get outside my comfort zone concerning color schemes. I don't really like yellow, so I figured I might as well do a whole painting in it. Anyway, it's about 20 hours or so in Painter X. And yes - he does have a penis.

Batman and Hellboy

I decided to do my version of two of my favorite comic book heroes batman and hellboy. I just couldn't get them out of my head because of the movies coming out. Speaking of the movies hellboy 2 had some totally kick ass characters in it.



Anyway my version of batman will totally curb stomp your ass. He has obscenely huge arms. And a grimace that could strike fear into the biggest bad ass. and he has the old school black and gray suit, with a high tech belt and low tech boots, I don't know why.



My version of hellboy is basically like mikes but less graphic and has boots instead of hooves,like in the movies.

Environment and the Field Golem!

The Crystal Peaks (edited). Snowy mountain environment. Inspired by another song I wrote by the same name. Seems like I keep jumping back and forth between the music and art thing. But, it's always fun when one inspires the other. Anyway, I'm trying my best to avoid photo textures now unless I absolutely have to use them. They work okay on creatures and such, but for landscapes, I want to get more practice at actually painting the forms. In any case, the song can be heard at the same place where the Imp Rex song is (check below for the link - if you care to. :P).







Another creature concept. No one knows for sure how these giant stone piles began walking. The only clue to their origin is the primitive markings left on their torsos - perhaps remnants of an ancient incantation rite. The only way to fell this giant is to destroy the skystone in the center of its body.

Itchy crotch

I'd like you to meet Pierce, he likes all sorts of body piercings and enjoys unprotected sex, hence the itchy crotch lol. Just a quick sketch, I really want to get a well rendered piece of this guy but im not sure of the pose. I think i'll try for something more dramatic. I need to work on those rusty digital painting skills, WHAT! am i talking about i have no painting skills. OH well i guess all the more to work on them then. -might be part of a series?-

Imp Rex

A revamped design of a sketch I did freshman year for a boss creature in an RPG. I had written a soundtrack cue for the fight as I imagined and decided to sketch the creature as I saw him based on the music. The beak plate on its face protects the open cavity in its head where the brain can be accessed - thus also making it blind. He is built to be fast and nimble, but very powerful as well. There are lesser imps, but as the name of this one implies, he is of a higher breed. The song I wrote for it can be heard here .

Hey everyone. Cool work so far. I've been wanting to post something but have been busy with other sheeit. Lately I've been in this Xenogears obsession and it made me want to do some character sketches reminiscent of those old PS1 RPGs. Classic shit. So anyway, here's a generic hero in his generic clothing (before he actually becomes a hero). I was mostly wanting to focus on costuming and design without getting much into rendering (I'm a bit sick of rendering for now). Anyway, have at it! :P

Oh no he didn't...

Hey guys and girls. Been swamped with work and having a hard time keep up with personal stuff, so I wanted to put off critiquing your stuffs until I finished these two pieces I'm currently working on. If all goes well I'll post the second by Sunday, and then the crits will follow.

So, just one piece today, but two variations. I can't decide if I want to leave the background just white or not. All opinions and critiques would be *greatly* appreciated.

After posting these and looking at them, the plain white background really does look better. Maybe I'll try something else, or just leave it white. Also, the other piece I'm working on is taking longer than I thought and I'm going to need to do some studying/referencing to finish it, so... Just this one post for this weekend, maybe two more pieces next weekend. I'll try to get around to critting everyone elses stuff now.
